Private sector lender ICICI Bank announced that it now facilitates online payment of customs duty, to benefit both retail and corporate customers. Corporate customers can pay customs duty through the bank's corporate internet banking (CIB) and mobile banking app InstaBIZ, while retail customers can do so through the bank's retail internet banking platform.

Customers can make online payment by selecting ICICI Bank from the list of banks on the website of the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (ICEGATE), it said in a statement.

"This facility enables millions of ICICI Bank customers to conveniently pay customs duty digitally through ICEGATE website. This is in line with our endeavour to continuously enhance convenience to our customers by offering them innovative products and services,'' said Hitesh Sethia, ICICI Bank Head (Transaction Banking).

ICICI Bank has been successfully facilitating payment of direct and indirect taxes for more than a decade now, the bank added.

On Friday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the re-appointment of Anup Bagchi as the Executive Director of ICICI Bank for three years, even as the bank had cleared the term for five years.

''The Reserve Bank vide its letter dated January 6, 2022, has approved the re-appointment of Anup Bagchi as an Executive Director of the bank for three years with effect from February 1, 2022,'' said ICICI Bank in a regulatory filing yesterday.

The shareholders of the bank at its Annual General Meeting in August last year had approved Bagchi's re-appointment for five years effective February 1, 2022.
