Domestic Defence Market To Scale Up To $300 Billion In Next 10 Years, Says Adani Defence CEO
Adani Defence & Aerospace CEO Ashish Rajvanshi emphasised the need for nano, mini, and micro drones to counter aerial threats, aligning with India's 'Make In India' initiative.

The domestic defence market is poised to be a $300 billion market after Budget 2025, said Chief Executive Officer of Adani Defence & Aerospace Ashish Rajvanshi to NDTV Profit at Aero India 2025. He outlined the company's aggressive expansion—six locations in six years, including the latest in Hosur and Kochi—as part of India's push for self-reliance in defence.
Considering 'every flying object now a potential threat,' Rajvanshi emphasised the need for nano, mini, and micro drones to detect, deter, and neutralise aerial dangers. The need of the triservices and the policymakers' push for 'Make In India' is what prompted the growth in the last few years, he added.
Not Adani Versus Tata—Building an Ecosystem
Dismissing competition narratives, Rajvanshi stressed the need for a bottom-up ecosystem, integrating startups and MSMEs. "This isn't about Adani versus Tata versus anyone else," he stated.
Adani Defence has already pumped Rs 5,000 crore into its six existing facilities, with Rs 8,000 crore committed for future development.
Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone Launch
Adani Defence & Aerospace, in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation, launched its Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025 on Tuesday. This is India's first such system developed under a public-private partnership model.
BK Das, director general of electronics and communication systems of DRDO, highlighted India's commitment to indigenous defence technology and self-reliance, according to a release on Tuesday.
Developed under DRDO's Transfer of Technology framework, the system addresses the increasing threat of drones in modern warfare, a statement from Adani Defence said. Recognising the rising use of drones for reconnaissance and offensive operations, the system provides a countermeasure, offering long-range protection, agility, and precision, it further read.
The launch of the vehicle-mounted counter-drone system displays India’s focus on indigenous defence production, reducing reliance on imports and strengthening national security.
