CP Gurnani's AIonOS To Develop AI Solutions For Indonesia, Work With China's DeepSeek
There are no concerns with respect to DeepSeek being Chinese, he says.

Tech veteran CP Gurnani's AI venture inked a pact with Indonesia's Indosat on Monday to develop a range of artificial-intelligence solutions for the country in partnership with Chinese AI lab DeepSeek.
The collaboration aims to build on Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's vision to leverage AI for advancing the country's food security, talent development and tourism, according to a company statement.
"Indonesia wants to be an AI-powered nation and Indosat has chosen AIonOS to build that AI vision," Gurnani told NDTV Profit. "Indonesia has the latest Nvidia GPUs, and we will build use cases on top of that."
Headed by Gurnani, AIonOS is a joint venture between IndiGo parent InterGlobe Enterprises and Assago Group. The Singapore-based venture will build AI solutions for Indonesia's travel, education and agriculture sector as part of the pact.
It will also set up a Centre of Excellence in Jakarta in partnership with China's DeepSeek. "There are no concerns with respect to DeepSeek being Chinese. We will work within the boundaries of regulations," he said. "Indonesia has a right to choose AIonOS. In India, we work with OpenAI, Meta and Google. Similarly, in Indonesia, we'll be working with DeepSeek."
At the heels of the budget on Feb. 1, Gurnani expects the government to introduce measures to encourage startups to base themselves in India. "Also, India needs to invest a lot more in AI education... We should have higher allocation for chips, sovereign AI policy, quant computing," he said.
