(Bloomberg) -- The 200,000-plus death toll isn't the only concerning Covid-19 metric for the U.S. The seven-day average of new cases has been on an upward trajectory, topping 40,000 again on Tuesday, the start of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. “It is what many of us feared would happen” as people take more risks and schools and colleges reopen, said Greg Poland, a professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. “Clearly, we are seeing increased outbreaks.”
