Breaking News Live: A Total Of 1,678 Tourists Are Being Safely Evacuated In Sikkim
Three soldiers killed, six missing; over 1,600 tourists evacuated said Sikkim DGP Akshay Sachdeva.
"Today, the rescue operation for tourists stranded in Lachung began. A total of 1,678 tourists are being safely evacuated, along with 284 vehicles and 16 bikers. We take immense satisfaction in ensuring their safety," Sachdeva told PTI.
"Speaking with the tourists, we were heartened by their kind words and appreciation for the dedication and support shown by our police personnel," he said.
