(Bloomberg) -- Gunmen killed two people in an attack on a health center in northern Mozambique, bringing to seven the number of fatalities this week in the gas-rich region that's seen a spate of raids authorities have blamed on radical Islamists.
The unidentified assailants killed a medical technician and another citizen and stole medicines and vehicles in the late Monday raid on a village in Nangade district, Cabo Deleado province, national police spokesman Inacio Dina said by phone. Two days earlier, gunmen opened fire on a government building and killed five people in Palma, where Eni SpA and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. have gas projects.
Police have arrested more than 300 people since the first significant attack on Oct. 5 in the nearby city of Macimboa da Praia, which the government blamed on a “radical Islamic sect.” Police haven't said the latest attacks are linked to that group.
