The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's Terminal 1 is set to be able to manage 20 million passengers per year after its redevelopment. According to its operator, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd., this reflects a 42% jump in its operational capacity.

The company said that it will be demolishing and redeveloping Terminal 1 and CSMIA T2, along with Navi Mumbai International Airport, scheduled to be operational in 2025, will manage the capacity gap created by the demolition of T1.

During the construction, Terminal 2 will shoulder the additional traffic. Advanced technologies such as DigiYatra, self-baggage drop, and e-Gates will ensure smooth passenger movement despite the increased footfall.
