Maruti Suzuki Brings Fourth India Plant Onstream At Haryana's Kharkhoda

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has commenced manufacturing at its fourth plant in the country, in line with its endeavour to achieve a production capacity of four million units by the turn of this decade.

The company has "successfully commissioned" the first phase of the manufacturing facility with a capacity of 250,000 units per annum at Kharkhoda, Haryana, according to an exchange filing on Tuesday. The commercial production has commenced from today.

India's largest carmaker now has three plants operational in Haryana, one each in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda. The Suzuki Motor Gujarat facility is a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. The company, at present, can produce 2.35 million units per year.

Japan's Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd., the parent company of Maruti Suzuki, plans to invest Rs 70,000 crore in India by 2030 to achieve an annual installed capacity of four million units.

The idea is to recapture 50% market share in India, and make the country a hub for exports at the same time. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki aims to become India's no.1 carmaker in terms of production, local sales and exports of electric cars.
