Air raid sirens wailed over Dubai airport on Tuesday morning following a warning issued by UAE air defenses of incoming missiles and drones fired by Iran. Passengers and staff members of the airport were instructed to move towards bomb shelters, which was showed in a video where empty check-in counters were seen while people were walking towards the shelters. The airport operations were disrupted for 30 minutes until after the authorities cleared the threat warning.

As Dubai airport handles the busiest air traffic in the world with a heavy tourist count, scheduled arrival flights were affected and several departures were delayed during the security scare caused by the threat near the cities of Fujairah and Al-Ain, data on tracking websites showed. Bahrain International Airport also witnessed the threat, as sirens were also heard in a separate incident amid the Middle Eastern tensions.

Last week, eight drones were destroyed by Saudi Arabian and Kuwaiti forces, who also intercepted two directed at oil fields where Iranian drones targeted the Ras Tanura refinery, according to the Associated Press.
On Saturday, a drone crashed near one of the airport's terminals at Dubai airport, after which operations were suspended during an aerial interception against the attacks from Iran. Smoke was seen around the airport as the object could be seen falling from the sky, in a surfaced video, with a heavy blast.
The UAE says the country has faced repeated aerial threats since the start of the conflict, reporting 221 ballistic missiles and more than 1,300 drone attacks during the ongoing hostilities. Prominent places in the country, including Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab, have also been attacked during the initial days of the conflict.
