KRBL Expects Basmati Rice Prices To Remain Firm, Export Revival Key To Profitability

KRBL CFO Ashish Jain told NDTV Profit that basmati rice prices are expected to remain firm for the rest of the year, with strong demand in both domestic and international markets. He said price increases began in January and Q1 profitability was driven by higher realisations, with mark-to-market gains on rice also supporting earnings. However, exports and logistics continue to face pressure from the war, with freight costs rising fivefold and global shipping routes remaining disrupted. Jain said profitability will depend on a revival in exports and rice prices, while the company continues to focus on branded exports. He added that 2026 has been a normal year for sowing and there are no concerns on the crop front.
