The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the CA final examinations will now be conducted thrice a year, a move aimed at replacing the existing biannual schedule system.
In a press release on Thursday, ICAI noted that the decision aligns with global practice and will help aspirants in securing better job prospects. This comes after the body announced last year that the Intermediate and Foundation course examinations would be held three times a year. Now, a similar pattern will be followed for CA final examinations. “Now, all three levels—CA Final, Intermediate and Foundation will have an equal number of attempts each year, providing students more opportunities to sit in the exam,” the ICAI said.
The ICAI said that under the new system, the exam will be held in Jan., May., and Sep. Additionally, the assessment test for the post-qualification course in Information Systems Audit will also be conducted three times a year—in Feb., Jun., and Oct. At present, this test is held biannually.
Earlier, the body conducted the CA final exams in May. and Nov. The decision was taken by the 26th Council of ICAI, which came into effect in Feb. 2025.

The CA Final exam is the third and last level of Chartered Accountancy, through which aspirants get the chance to turn into professional accountants.
The apex body has already released the May scheduled for the CA final examinations 2025. According to the official schedule, the Foundation course examinations will be held from May 15 - 21. Meanwhile, the Intermediate course exam will be held from May 3 - 14. The schedule has been divided into two groups for all papers.
The CA final exam will be conducted May 2 and 13. Within the final exam, group I phase tests are scheduled for May 2, 4, and 6, and group 2 phase exams will be conducted on May 8, 10 and 13. According to the schedule, papers 1 to 5 will be held in group 1, while paper 6 will be held in group 2 phase.
