Vivo X Fold 5, Samsung Z Fold 7 Comparison In Nine Points
Here’s a look at how Vivo X Fold 5 and Samsung Z Fold 7 line up against each other in terms of specs, features and prices.

The book-style foldable smartphone space has heated up in a matter of days.
Coming on the heels of Samsung's highly anticipated launch of the Z Fold 7 last week, Vivo’s X Fold 5 is the latest book-style foldable to enter the market.
Here’s a look at how Vivo X Fold 5 and Samsung Z Fold 7 line up against each other in terms of specs, features and prices.
Chipset
The X Fold 5 houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which can’t beat the performance of the flagship-grade 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in the Z Fold 7.
Thinness And Weight
The Z Fold 7, with its stunning thin profile of 8.9mm folded and 4.2mm unfolded and weighing just 215 gm, tops the X Fold 5, which measures 9.2mm folded and 4.3mm unfolded and weighing 217 gm.
Display And Hinge
In terms of size, both have almost identical displays: 6.53-inch cover and 8.03-inch Amoled main in the X Fold 5 and 6.5-inch and 8-inch Amoled in the Z Fold 7. However, the Z Fold 7 has a thinner and lighter Armor FlexHinge, which not only improves durability but reduces creasing, plus the frame and hinge housing is made of Armor Aluminium.
Safety And Protection
The X Fold 5 has second-generation Armor Glass on its cover screen, while the cover of Z Fold 7 is guarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The former has IPX8, IPX9, and IP5X ratings, while the latter is rated IP48.
Camera
The X Fold 5 has a great camera set developed in collaboration with Zeiss: 50MP main, 50MP telephoto, 50MP ultrawide, and 20MP front. On the other hand, the Z Fold 7 boasts a powerful 200MP primary lens, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto, paired with a 10MP front camera with 100-degree field of view.
Battery
The X Fold 5 packs a punch with its 6,000mAh battery, compared to a 4,400mAh cell in the Z Fold 7.
Memory And Storage
The X Fold 5 comes in just one variant: 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The Z Fold 7 has a host of options: 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB.
AI Features
The X Fold 5 includes features like AI Magic Move, AI Erase, AI Image Expander, and Workbench. However, Z Fold 7’s Galaxy AI universe and Gemini Live clearly outshine the former’s, with powerful capabilities like Photo Assist, Portrait Studio, Generative Edit, Audio Eraser, Circle to Search, Drawing Assist, Writing Assist, and more.
Price
The X Fold 5 is priced at Rs 1,49,999, while the Z Fold 7 goes upwards of Rs 1,74,999.
While Samsung’s Z Fold 7 does come at a higher price point, it’s a premium, high-end device. The Vivo X Fold 5 is understandably lower priced because it does miss out on many flagship-grade features.
