The Unique Identification Authority of India has announced an extension of its free online document upload service for Aadhaar updates until June 14, 2025. This decision will benefit millions of Aadhaar number holders across the country, allowing them to update important details like address, mobile number, or other personal information through the myAadhaar portal at no cost.
UIDAI, in a post on the social media platform 'X,' said, #UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th June 2025 to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on the #myAadhaar portal. UIDAI has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their #Aadhaar."
Meaning after June 14, 2025, offline updates at Aadhaar centres will incur a charge. This marks a significant change, as the current free service on the myAadhaar portal will remain available for the next several months, giving citizens ample time to make necessary changes without additional expenses.
The UIDAI has consistently encouraged citizens, particularly those who received their Aadhaar cards over ten years ago, to review and update their information. Although it is not mandatory to update Aadhaar details, keeping this information accurate is important to ensure smooth access to government services and benefits.
