Senior executives from SpaceX met Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday, as the company steps up its India plans for satellite-based internet services.

SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell and Starlink Vice President Lauren Dreyer were part of the delegation that held discussions with the minister.

In a parallel development, SpaceX signed an agreement with the Government of Meghalaya to pilot Starlink's satellite-based high-speed internet services in the state. The pilot project is expected to focus on expanding connectivity in remote and underserved areas.

The rollout of the pilot, however, will be contingent on Starlink securing spectrum allocation from Indian authorities, a key regulatory requirement before commercial services can begin.

The developments signal renewed momentum in Starlink's India entry plans, as the company engages with both central and state governments to build out its satellite broadband footprint.
