The "slimmest Galaxy S series device" from the Samsung stable has made its debut. Measuring a mere 5.8 mm in thickness and clocking just 163 g on the weighing scale, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is sure to lure smartphone lovers with its ultra-thin, portable form.

Despite its super-thin design, the Galaxy S25 Edge — with its $1,099 starting price tag — is definitely expensive. Furthermore, it is edging quite close to the Galaxy S25 Ultra pricing territory. The Galaxy S25 Ultra starts at $1,299, just $200 more than the Edge.

So is the Edge really worth its price, or would you rather go for the Ultra?

Galaxy S25 Edge And Galaxy S25 Ultra: The Similarities

First up, the similarities between the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25 Ultra are quite a few. Both are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite custom Galaxy chipset and run on Android 15-based One UI 7 OS.

Galaxy AI features in both Edge and Ultra are pretty much the same: Now Brief, Night Video for low-light recording, Music Search, Audio Eraser for sound isolation, Drawing Assist, and more.

The two also pack a 200MP primary camera with a 12MP selfie shooter. IP68 dust and water protection rating comes in both the phones. Not to forget, both devices boast a titanium frame, which makes them extremely sturdy and resilient.

Galaxy S25 Edge Vs Galaxy S25 Ultra: The Difference

However, when it comes to the Edge's 200MP camera, Samsung doesn't spell out that it's using the same sensor as the one on the Ultra. Furthermore, the entire camera pack — 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x zoom, 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom and 50MP ultrawide — make the S25 Ultra far superior to the S25 Edge when it comes to photography.

Then it's the battery: the Ultra houses a massive 5000mAh battery, while the slim Edge can only stomach a 3,900mAh one. The Ultra also comes with 45W wired, 25W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging; the Edge —25W wired.

There's a minor difference in the display specs: 6.9-inch in the Ultra vs 6.7-inch in the Edge. Even though Gorilla Glass Ceramic in the Edge is good, it can't quite match up to Gorilla Glass Armor in the Ultra when it comes to resisting drop damage. Plus, it has a built-in S pen with Stylus support.

The Verdict: Galaxy S25 Edge Or Galaxy S25 Ultra?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is an incredibly sleek phone, but the trade-offs for its thinness are quite a few. It's also priced close to the top-tier flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra. For a device that costs $200 more, but packs a lot of high-end features, the Ultra easily knocks out the lightweight Edge.

While those who prefer portability would eye the Galaxy S25 Edge, pro-grade smartphone lovers who don't mind a chunkier device would definitely want to shell a tad extra for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
