Palo Alto Networks, IBM To Jointly Provide AI-Powered Security Offerings
The aim is to streamline and transform security operations, stop threats at scale and accelerate incident remediation for enterprises.

Cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks and IBM have announced a partnership to deliver artificial intelligence-powered security outcomes for customers. The companies aim to help streamline and transform security operations, stop threats at scale and accelerate incident remediation for enterprises with an AI-enabled approach.
The expanding and complex enterprise technology landscape, driven by digital transformation and the rapid growth of AI, presents significant cybersecurity challenges. To address increasingly sophisticated threats and evolving attack surfaces, organisations are exploring security platforms underpinned by AI.
To help enterprises overcome cybersecurity challenges, IBM will platformise internal security solutions with Palo Alto Networks, which will be its cybersecurity partner across network, cloud and security operations centre. Palo Alto Networks will incorporate watsonx's large language models in Cortex XSIAM to deliver additional precision AI solutions.
“The security industry is at an inflection point where AI will transform businesses and deliver outcomes not seen before,” said Nikesh Arora, chairman and chief executive officer, Palo Alto Networks. The company will combine its “security solutions with IBM's pioneering watsonx AI platform and premier services to drive the future of security platformisation with complete, AI-powered, secure-by-design offerings," Arora added.
As part of the partnership, Palo Alto Networks has agreed to acquire IBM's QRadar SaaS assets, including QRadar intellectual property rights, for migration to SOC platform Cortex XSIAM, which features AI-powered threat protection.
On-premise QRadar clients who wish to remain on QRadar will continue to receive IBM features and support, including security, usability and critical bug fixes, as well as updates to existing connectors and the ability to expand consumption, the company said. For QRadar SaaS and on-premises clients who migrate to Cortex XSIAM, the companies will work towards a smooth transfer.
IBM will accelerate investment in data security and identity, and access management for hybrid cloud and AI, partnering with Palo Alto Networks on security operations, threat management and DevSecOps. Palo Alto Networks' cybersecurity solutions will be accessible in IBM's Consulting Advantage AI services platform.
"Advanced threat protection and automation, underpinned by Cortex XSIAM and watsonx, and coupled with IBM Consulting, will speed client and partner adoption of next-generation security operations,” said Arvind Krishna, chairman and CEO of IBM.
The companies will also establish a jointly managed SOC and a joint Cyber Range for enterprises to experience Palo Alto Networks security products. Together, the companies will train consultants, with the aim of enabling more than 1,000 IBM experts to provide migration, deployment and adoption services across Palo Alto Networks platforms.
IBM said it will also internally adopt Cortex XSIAM for security operations and Prisma SASE 3.0 for zero-trust network security to safeguard its global workforce.
