After taking on some of the biggest tech companies in the world including OpenAI (backed by Microsoft), Google, and xAI (owned by billionaire Elon Musk) with its artificial intelligence powered search engine, Perplexity has just announced it is going to transform the browser world with its Comet web browser in what may well be a warning to Google Chrome browser and others. Taking to X, the folks at Perplexity posted this, "Comet: A Browser for Agentic Search by Perplexity. Coming soon." In an interaction with Tech Crunch, Perplexity spokesperson said, "we're... reinventing the browser."

Notably, Perplexity has an Indian-origin co-founder and CEO, Aravind Srinivas. The other co-founders are Andy Konwinski, Denis Yarats, and Johnny Ho.

Except the name, the company has not revealed anything else about the "Comet Browser by Perplexity", but it has indicated it is hiring through another X post that says, "We are actively hiring for roles to join us in building Comet."

And Perplexity is not looking to be just another me-too product. It has signalled its ambition by another legend saying, "Help us build the future of search."

To prospective employees, it said, "Join a team where curiosity and innovation shape how the world finds answers."

Notably, Perplexity found fame as "the world’s first answer engine", as it describes itself and it may well be looking to leverage this search engine success and the massive current user base to ensure triumph for Comet against all odds.

Over the recent months, Perplexity has not been sitting on its haunches or reveling in its success. Perplexity launched "Deep Research", as well as an API for AI search and also an AI-powered assistant for Android.

Perplexity Deep Research is designed to offer users benefits like saving hours of time by conducting in-depth research and analysis; it also launched an API service called Sonar for enterprises and developers. In its post on X, Perplexity posted, "Introducing Sonar: Perplexity’s API. Sonar is the most affordable search API product on the market. Use it to build generative search, powered by real-time information and citations, into your apps."; and lastly, in his X post on the launch of an AI-powered assistant for Android, Srinivas posted, "We are excited to launch the Perplexity Assistant to all Android users. This marks the transition for Perplexity from an answer engine to a natively integrated assistant that can call other apps and perform basic tasks for you."

Considering the many achievements of this Aravind Srinivas-led company, many analysts have gone on record to claim that the nearest Google rival is Perplexity and not Microsoft.

Notably, Perplexity has also been hiring in India for its various projects.
