The upcoming spring season is shaping to be a big one for Apple. And if you are an Apple gadgets fan, you will have a problem of plenty to choose from. The iPhone maker is expected to launch a number of major new devices and refresh some of its existing products.
Apple will reportedly launch the iPhone SE 4, which is rumoured to be called iPhone 16e. Additionally, a new iPad, upgraded accessories, and a revamped iPad Air series are all possible.
Here’s a brief look at the upcoming devices from Apple that could see a spring launch.
Apple iPhone SE 4
In late March or early April, Apple could announce the first 2025 product from its stable. It is anticipated that the most affordable iPhone will get a rebranding in the form of iPhone 16e along with a slew of upgrades.
These include Apple's in-house modem, Face ID for the first time, multifunctional Action Button to replace Ring/Silent switch, larger 6.1-inch OLED display and full-screen design, 48MP primary camera, larger battery, and USB Type-C charging support. It will likely be powered by the A18 Bionic chip, and have 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
Apple iPad 11
The new iPad 11, which was missing from the updated iPad lineup in 2024, is anticipated to be released by Apple in spring. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg recently noted that the A17 Pro chip will power Apple’s next-generation entry-level iPads, internally referred to as J481 and J482.
The new models would likely pack 8GB of RAM, which is required to handle Apple Intelligence functions. Updated Magic Keyboards are among the new accessories that may be offered, according to reports.
Apple iPad Air Upgrade
Gurman also added that Apple may decide to replace the M2 generation iPad Air devices with M4 chip ones in the spring, completely excluding the M3 generation from the lineup. “The new iPad Airs—code-named J607, J608, J637 and J638—will be more about specification upgrades than design changes. The current version, introduced last year, has the M2 chip. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the 2025 models get bumped up to the M4, matching the iPad Pro,” Gurman wrote in his newsletter.
This won’t come as a surprise since Apple did the same with the iPad Pro range in May 2024, which was expected to sport the M3 chip but ran the M4 instead, skipping the former generation entirely. Also, the in-house 5G modem could show up in the iPad Air, although there aren’t any design changes expected.
Those interested in other, newer, Apple products, should know that the company announces, or rolls them out during its various events, two in particular. These are the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is generally held in the Summer and is mostly focused on software. Then there is the Fall season event when it launches its next iPhone series, this time iPhone 17.
