India secured a spot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final after defeating Australia by four wickets in the 1st semi-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. 

Opting to bat first, Australia posted a competitive total of 264 runs, with Steve Smith leading the charge. He scored 73 runs off 93 deliveries before being dismissed by Mohammed Shami. Alex Carey contributed a brisk 60 off 48 deliveries. But India's disciplined bowling attack ensured Australia did not cross the 270-mark.

Mohammed Shami starred with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy provided valuable support with two dismissals.

Virat Kohli led India's chase with a match-winning knock of 84 runs. The win against Australia was also India's highest successful chase at the venue.

During India’s chase, Kohli’s resilience and a crucial 45-run contribution from Shreyas Iyer steadied the innings. Despite some late nerves, the lower middle order, including KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, saw India home.

The victory ensured the team advanced to its third consecutive, and fifth overall, Champions Trophy final.

The final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played between India and New Zealand on Sunday, March 9. The first delivery of the match will be bowled at 2:30 p.m.
