T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Stage: The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is approaching the fag end of its riveting group stage. A total of 32 matches have been played across four groups by 20 participants. The Super 8 qualification for Group A will be confirmed tomorrow when Pakistan plays Namibia at 3:00 pm, followed by India's match against the Netherlands. The Super 8 qualification for the other remaining groups was confirmed on Tuesday after New Zealand's victory over the UAE and the washout of the Zimbabwe-Ireland match.

Here's all you need to know about the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, including the Super 8 Qualified teams, eliminated teams, groups, seedings, format and full schedule of the Super 8 stage.

Group A Qualified And Eliminated Teams

In Group A, India's massive victory over Pakistan on Sunday, Feb. 15, secured their berth in the next phase of the tournament with 3 wins in 3 matches. The result left Pakistan in a precarious spot despite beating the USA and the Netherlands in their previous two games. As the USA defeated the Netherlands and Namibia in Chennai, they were back in contention with a superior NRR (+0.787>-0.403) than Pakistan. The equation is straightforward in this group: if Pakistan lose to Namibia in their last game, the USA join India in the Super 8s stage. Namibia is the only team eliminated from Group A.

Group B Qualified And Eliminated Teams

In Group B, Zimbabwe's stunning win over former champions Australia made headlines. The Zimbabweans had earlier beaten struggling Oman, who got eliminated after losing to Sri Lanka and Ireland. Sri Lanka secured a memorable victory over the Aussies on Monday, leaving them on the brink of exit. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka confirmed their berth in the Super 8 phase after winning all three of their matches. Tuesday's washout between Zimbabwe and Ireland means that Zimbabwe will now join Sri Lanka as the top two qualified teams. Australia, Ireland and Oman are the teams eliminated from Group B.

Group C Qualified And Eliminated Teams

Despite England's inconsistent performances, they have secured their place in the Super 8 after another hard-fought victory against Italy. The West Indies are the only team without any loss and top the table with six points. Scotland, Nepal and Italy are the teams which have been eliminated.

Group D Qualified And Eliminated Teams

Afghanistan's disappointing start has made Group D a whole lot more straightforward than anticipated. The Afghans lost to New Zealand and conceded points following a double Super Over tie versus South Africa. South Africa consolidated the top spot on the table by beating New Zealand after overcoming Afghanistan and Canada previously. The 2nd qualification of the group was confirmed when New Zealand secured a comfortable victory over Canada on Tuesday. This means Afghanistan, the UAE and Canada have been eliminated.

West Indies was the first team to qualify for the Super 8 stage, followed by defending champions India. On the other hand, Nepal was the first team to be eliminated from the T20 World Cup, after losing their first three matches. They were soon followed by Oman, which became the second nation to bow out of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Super 8 Phase Dates

The Super 8 phase of the T20 World Cup 2026 begins on February 21 and will conclude on March 1.

Super 8 Seeding Explained

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had already confirmed the eight seeded teams based on their International T20 rankings. This means these teams were allotted predefined positions in the Super 8 stage, irrespective of where they finished in the group stage. In a scenario where an unseeded team qualifies at the expense of a seeded team, it will take the seeded team's place in the Super 8 seeding.

Super 8 Format

In the Super 8 stage, the eight qualifiers have split into two groups, with each team playing the other three sides in its group once. The top two teams from each group will then progress to the semi-finals

  • Super 8 Group 1 Seeding

Group 1 of Super 8 will have India, West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe. After Australia's exit from the T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe were allotted their seeded place in Group 1.

  • Super 8 Group 2 Seeding

New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and England will be in Group 2 of the Super 8 phase. These three teams will be joined by either Pakistan or the USA to complete the group.
