Four more Omicron cases were detected in Kerala on Wednesday and with this the state’s tally has reached five, State Health Minister Veena George said.
“Among the total four cases reported, two have come into contact with the first positive case reported in Kochi. The third person is from Ernakulam who had come from Congo and the fourth case has been reported from Thiruvananthapuram, who had come from the U.K.” the minister added.
India’s total tally of cases with new coronavirus variant currently stand at 66.
Security was tightened in Mumbai after the Maharashtra government imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the city up to midnight of New Year's eve, in the wake of Omicron cases in the state, ANI reported. The state’s Omicron tally stood at 32 as of Wednesday.
"Will take action if Covid-appropriate behaviour is not be followed by people," said MIDC police inspector Nasir Kulkarni.
