(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump's campaign committee staff and vendors were directed to preserve documents and records in case they're requested by the special counsel investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election or by congressional committees.
Michael Glassner, who runs Trump's campaign committee, said in a May 26 letter obtained by Bloomberg News that people who worked for the committee should save “any and all documents in your possession, custody or control that relate in any way to your work on or for the committee," including email and text messages.
"If you have enabled any auto-delete features for your data, please suspend or disable the function immediately for all data," he wrote.
The campaign committee has hired the law firm Jones Day to represent it in connection to the investigations, Glassner said.
"I am confident that there was no wrongdoing” by the campaign, Glassner wrote.
Politico reported Thursday that aides and volunteers who worked on Trump's presidential transition operation were sent a similar letter asking them to preserve records for the investigations.
