Lok Sabha Adjourned Amid Uproar, No-Confidence Motion Not Taken Up

Lok Sabha Adjourned Amid Uproar, No-Confidence Motion Not Taken Up
Cracks were reported in the TDP-NDA alliance after Arun Jaitley ruled out a special category status for Andhra Pradesh, offering a special package for the state instead.

Amid continuous ruckus, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Tuesday without the Speaker taking up the no-confidence motions moved by the TDP and the YSR Congress against the Narendra Modi government.

  • On Friday, the TDP broke ties with the NDA over Andhra Pradesh special status row
  • Opposition parties, including the Congress, TMC and CPI(M), had said they would support the motion
  • Rajnath Singh said the government was ready for discussion on the no-confidence motion
  • Chandrababu Naidu accused the BJP and PM Modi of “instigating other people” against his party

No-Confidence Motion Has Ended Myth That Govt is Unshakable: Shiv Sena

The Telugu Desam Party's no-confidence motion has put an end to the "myth" that the BJP-led central government has an unshakable mandate for the next 25 years, the Shiv Sena said.

There is an environment of mistrust in the country against the government and next year there will be a "blast of resentment" that is prevailing among people, it said.

The Sena, however, alleged that the TDP's move was driven by its own political compulsions.

The TDP wants to bring in the no-confidence motion for its personal political reasons and not for any ‘nationalist' reason.
