External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who underwent a kidney transplant three days ago, was on Tuesday shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at AIIMS in Delhi and was recovering well.
The 64-year-old minister is likely to be discharged in another seven to ten days, senior hospital officials said.
The minister has been shifted out of the ICU to a private ward of the Cardio-Neuro Centre. Her post-surgery recovery is on the expected lines.Dr MC Mishra, AIIMS Director
He said her recovery is being closely monitored by a team of transplant surgeons, physicians (endocrinologist, nephrologist, cardiologist and pulmonologist) and anaesthetist besides critical care expert, physiotherapist and transplant specialists.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj underwent a kidney transplant at AIIMS in Delhi on Saturday. The surgery ended successfully, reported ANI. The surgery was performed by a team of experts constituted by AIIMS.
According to IANS, the organ donor was living and unrelated to her.

"HLA-matching test in case of an unrelated donor is not essential. We have performed the crossmatch and a series of blood and immunological tests, and have found both of them fit for the procedure," a doctor said on Friday.

According to doctors, Swaraj has been suffering from diabetes for quite a long time. After the kidney failure diagnosis, she was put on maintenance dialysis."She undergoes dialysis thrice a week," a senior doctor said.
On 16 November, Swaraj had tweeted that she was in AIIMS because of kidney failure.

November 16, 2016Apart from the surgeons, who performed the transplant surgery, a team of doctors from other departments had also been constituted to monitor her health.
The team of top doctors comprises Head of Endocrinology Nikhil Tandon, Head of Pulmonary Medicine Randeep Guleria, Chief of Cardio Thoracic and Head of Nephrology Sandeep Mahajan.
Sixty four-year-old Swaraj, who has been in and out of the hospital for the last few months, was admitted to AIIMS on 7 November.
