Narendra Modi Swearing-in Live Updates: Narendra Modi and his new cabinet ministers will take oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a ceremony beginning at 7:00 pm. BJP president Amit Shah is likely to be a part of the new Modi cabinet and Arun Jaitley isn't. Here are the live updates and developments from the Modi swearing-in ceremony.

Some former Union ministers have not been given a second stint in the new Modi government.

  • Sushma Swaraj, who was the external affairs minister, was present in the audience today but wasn't sworn-in as a union minister.
  • Rajyavardhan Rathore, who served as a Minister of State for Ministry, was given a miss.
  • Maneka Gandhi, who was earlier the Women and Child Affairs Minister, found no place in Modi 2.0.
  • Jagat Prakash Nadda too did not make it to the union cabinet this time. He had served as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
  • Jayant Sinha, the former Minister of State for Civil Aviation, did not make the cut either. His father, Yashwant Sinha has been a vocal critic of the Modi government.
  • Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had opted out of the Modi government citing health concerns.
  • Former Water Affairs Minister Uma Bharati was also given a miss.

At the end of the swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the leaders of BIMSTEC nations met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind. The guests will now head to a dinner hosted by the President.

West Bengal BJP leader Deboshree Chowdhury has taken oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. She won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Raiganj, West Bengal. She will be a first time union minister.

Rajasthan BJP leader Kailash Choudhary has taken oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Barmer, Rajasthan. He is a first-time union minister.

Odisha BJP leader Pratap Chandra Sarangi has taken oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Balasore, Odisha. He is a first-time union minister.

Assam BJP leader Rameshwar Teli has taken oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Dibrugarh, Assam. He is a first-time minister.

Punjab BJP leader Som Prakash has taken oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Hoshiarpur, Punjab. He is a first-time union minister.

Chhattisgarh BJP leader Renuka Singh Saruta has taken oath of office as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. She won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Surguja constituency.

BJP’s Kerala unit President V Muralidharan has taken oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. He is a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra. He is a first-time union minister.

BJP leader Rattan Lal Kataria has taken the oath as a minister of state. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Ambala, Haryana. He is a first-time union minister.

Nityanand Rai has taken the oath as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi's second government. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Ujiarpur in Bihar. He is a first-time union minister.

BJP's Suresh Angadi has taken the oath of office as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Belgaum, Karnataka. He is a first-time union minister.

Hours later, Modi drove to Jaitley's official residence in New Delhi and was with him for sometime, officials said.
