Public Accounts Committee chairman Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday, 15 December, questioned the Centre's claim of sharing its report on Rafale deal getting examined by PAC.

A day after the Supreme Court's verdict on Rafale deal case outlined the absence of any irregularities, PAC chief Kharge said that the government lied to the court about CAG sharing details of Rafale deal report in the house and getting probed by PAC.

He also said that he will take the matter up with the members of PAC and will summon AG and CAG.

“Government lied in Supreme Court that the CAG report was presented in the house and in PAC and PAC has probed it. Government said in the court that it is in public domain. Where is it?”

He also said that he will request all the panel members to summon Attorney General and CAG to question when the report was tabled in the Parliament.

“I request all the members of PAC that Attorney general and CAG chief should be summoned and asked when was the report presented in parliament and when was it accepted? When was it submitted to PAC, when was it examined?”

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said that Kharge should file an affidavit or review petition and that they have to take his word for it.

“We have to take his word. He should file an affidavit or review petition in court saying I did not receive and the committee has not examined it.”

Nationalist Congress Party's Sharad Pawar also backed Kharge's claim and said government's information to the apex court is incorrect.

“The SC judgment says the decision is based on the information they got from the government. The government told them that CAG has studied it and Public Accounts Committee has also approved of it; those things are not correct.”
