(Bloomberg) -- Movement for Democratic Change leader Nelson Chamisa said his party would “shut down'' the capital, Harare, unless electoral reforms are implemented before the July 30 general election, NewsDay reported.
The opposition party's demands include access to the voters roll and doing away with “illegally gazetted'' polling stations, the Harare-based newspaper reported, citing a speech by Chamisa at a political rally. The MDC also demanded to know who will print the ballot papers.
The MDC will contest the July election in alliance with smaller opposition parties, with Chamisa standing as the presidential candidate against President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front.
