S. Africa’s Zuma Prevented From Speaking at Labor Rally: News24

None

(Bloomberg) -- South African President Jacob Zuma was prevented from speaking at a labor day rally hosted by the ruling African National Congress' alliance partner, the Congress of South African Trade Unions, News24 reported.

The crowd at Cosatu's main labor day event in Bloemfontein in the Free State province sang anti-Zuma songs and a scuffle broke out between people opposing the president and those supporting him, the Cape Town-based news website reported without citing anyone.

Cosatu, the nation's biggest labor group, cancelled the event with no speeches being made. The labor federation last month called on Zuma to resign after he fired the finance minister and made sweeping changes to his cabinet without consulting the top leaders of the ANC and its allies.
