Hungary is bracing for hundreds of thousands of people becoming unemployed due to the coronavirus pandemic, a top government official told reporters on Thursday.
The full extent of the crisis will determine how many hundreds of thousands will lose their jobs, said Gergely Gulyas, the Minister in Charge of the Prime Minister's Office. The government and the central bank will help smaller firms, including by providing lending incentives and direct payments that may help keep them in siness, he said.
