(Bloomberg) -- Clemson University beat No. 2 Ohio State University Saturday night in the College Football Playoff semifinal.
No. 3 Clemson will face Louisiana State University in the championship on Jan. 13 in New Orleans after winning 29-23. Top-ranked LSU beat No. 4 University of Oklahoma 63-28 in an earlier semifinal Saturday to advance to compete for the national title.
This wasn't the first time Clemson and Ohio State played each other at the Fiesta Bowl. The Clemson Tigers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 31-0 following the 2016 season.
Clemson is the only school to make each of the last five playoffs and has more national championships in the past 15 years than the other teams playing in this weekend's college football semifinals combined.
