New Tatkal Booking Rule From July 1: Steps To Link Aadhaar With IRCTC Account

Indian Railways is going to implement some major changes to the Tatkal train ticket booking system. Starting July 1, only Aadhaar-authenticated users will be allowed to book Tatkal tickets online through the app and website of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
The Railway Ministry has announced a major overhaul to the Tatkal Ticket booking system to weed out bots and agents, allowing genuine passengers to book tickets.

What You Will Need To Book Tatkal Tickets Online
Active IRCTC account.
Aadhaar number or Virtual ID.
Mobile phone for OTP verification.
Steps To Link Aadhaar With Your IRCTC Account
Go to www.irctc.co.in and log in.
Click on ‘My Account’ and select ‘Authenticate User’.
Enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID.
Click on ‘Verify Details and Receive OTP’.
Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
Tick the consent box and hit ‘Submit’.
You will see a confirmation once your Aadhaar is successfully linked.
How To Add Aadhaar-Verified Passengers To Your Master List
The Master List on the IRCTC platform is a feature that allows users to save passenger details (name, age, gender, and ID proof) in advance, making the ticket booking process faster and more efficient.
Log in and go to ‘My Profile’ > ‘Master List’.
Add the passenger’s name, date of birth, and gender as per Aadhaar.
Select Aadhaar Card as ID proof and enter the Aadhaar number.
Submit the form. The verification status will show as ‘Pending’.
To check status, click ‘Check Pending Aadhaar Verification’.
Once matched, it will update to ‘Verified’.

Update Master List: Ensure passengers are Aadhaar-verified before booking.
Use IRCTC e-Wallet: Recharge in advance for quicker payments.
Know Timings: Tatkal for AC classes opens at 10 AM while Sleeper class opens at 11 AM.
