In response, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced the closure of all schools and colleges for the day.

A relieving update for Mumbaikars and daily commuters as central railway restores local train services between CSMT in south Mumbai and Thane after eight hours. This was done after the water on tracks began receding according to the railway authorities.

A mini rain stay-cation is on cards for students in Maharashtra as the Panvel Municipal Corporation declared an off for schools and colleges for Wednesday. Civic body wrote in a post on X, "In the backdrop of heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared for all schools and colleges within the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation."

"The monorail broke down around 6:15 p.m. between Chembur and Bhakti Park. In the emergency situation, passengers immediately contacted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s helpline number 1916 for assistance. Responding promptly, the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and began rescue operations with the help of three snorkel vehicles.", BMC stated.
