Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated significantly following a series of cross-border strikes and retaliatory attacks.
On Thursday night, India intercepted multiple drones and missiles launched by Pakistan targeting key military sites in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and Amritsar.
The Indian defence ministry confirmed that all incoming threats were neutralised, emphasising that the country remains fully prepared to safeguard its sovereignty.
In response to the heightened conflict, India has closed 24 airports for civil flight operations. These closures include major airports such as Chandigarh, Srinagar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Bhuntar.

🔗https://t.co/VZWP3bw8ko pic.twitter.com/GnjL1dyM7uThe Notice to Airmen directive also affects airports in Kishangarh, Patiala, Shimla, Kangra-Gaggal, Bathinda, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Halwara, Pathankot, Jammu, and Leh. Additionally, airports in Mundra, Jamnagar, Hirasar (Rajkot), Porbandar, Keshod, Kandla, and Bhuj have been shut down for civil flights.
India's Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7, targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and areas under its administration in Kashmir. These strikes were a direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the death of 26 people.
Due to the closure of above mentioned airports, multiple airlines have been forced to reroute flights and adjust schedules, leading to some delays and cancellations. Authorities are urging travelers to stay updated on the latest advisories and to make necessary arrangements in light of the ongoing conflict.
Moreover, all schools across J&K are closed today and Saturday, as a measure of precaution due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
