With heavy rains continuing to batter Delhi-NCR region, several airlines issued advisories regarding flight delays and cancellations.
Air India on Friday alerted passengers about potential flight delays and cancellations. The airline also advised passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the airline said that given the adverse weather conditions, significant traffic congestion was also expected on roads leading to the airport. The airline advised travellers to leave well in advance to ensure they reached the airport on time.

Other airlines such as Vistara and IndiGo also cautioned passengers about potential flight delays and cancellations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) and urged travellers to stay updated on their flight status via the official website and mobile app of the airlines.

June 28, 2024IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory following significant structural damage to Terminal 1 at Delhi's IGIA amid the heavy rainfall. The airline said all flights scheduled to depart from Terminal 1 between 10 am and 2 pm on Friday have been cancelled. Passengers affected by these cancellations are advised to visit the website to choose alternate flights or claim a full refund.
IndiGo has assured passengers of their commitment to assist during this disruption.

June 28, 2024Heavy Rains Bring Delhi To Standstill
Heavy rains lashed Delhi early Friday, causing waterlogging on roads across the national capital and causing a portion of the roof of Delhi airport's Terminal-1 to collapse. One person died and five were injured in the roof collapse incident, Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials said.
Safdarjung weather station recorded 153.7 mm of rainfall, which began around 3 am. India Meteorological Department defines very heavy rain as rainfall amounting to between 124.5 and 244.4 mm in a day.
