BJP's Rs 2,500 Monthly Aid For Delhi Women: Registration Starts March 8

The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Delhi is set to commence the registration process for its Rs 2,500 monthly scheme for women from economically weaker sections on March 8. This initiative, part of the BJP’s election manifesto under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, aims to provide financial assistance to women in need.

Party MP Manoj Tiwari announced the registration date on Sunday, emphasising the party’s commitment to fulfilling its election promises. “We are beginning registrations for our announcement of Rs 2,500 to be provided to poor women in Delhi from March 8,” Tiwari stated. He also mentioned that a list of beneficiaries would be prepared, and the entire process of providing the financial aid would be completed within one and a half months. Tiwari urged eligible women to register for the scheme.

The announcement has drawn criticism from the opposition Aam Aadmi Party, which accused the BJP government of failing to approve the scheme in its first cabinet meeting, as promised by the Prime Minister. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta responded by blaming the previous AAP government for leaving behind “empty coffers”, but assured that all promises made by the BJP would be fulfilled.

AAP chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar reminded the BJP of its pre-election promises, including the provision of Rs 2,500 to every woman in Delhi by March 8, and the assurance of LPG cylinders at Rs 500, with a free cylinder for every household on Holi and Diwali. She called on CM Rekha Gupta to start working on these promises.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva dismissed the AAP’s criticism, stating that the opposition leaders were creating “fictitious” issues after their party’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. He reaffirmed the BJP’s determination to fulfill all the promises made in its manifesto.
