Shares of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., ITC Ltd. and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. contributed positively to the changes in the NSE Nifty 50 on Monday.
The benchmark indices declined for the fifth straight day. The NSE Nifty 50 ended 242 points or 1.06% lower at 22,553.3, while the BSE Sensex closed 856.65 points or 1.14% down at 74,454.41.
In terms of sectoral performance three out of the 12 sectors ended in the green. The top laggards in Monday's trade were Nifty IT, Nifty Metal and Nifty Energy. The Nifty FMCG, Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma were the sectors that ended the day in green.

Top Gainers
The top gainer for the day was Mahindra and Mahindra, which gained 1.78% during trade. Kotak Mahindra Bank was the next biggest gainer, rising 0.87%. ITC and Dr. Reddy's shares advanced 0.62% and 1.92%, respectively. Eicher Motors was also among the key gainers of the day.
Top Losers
Infosys Ltd. dragged the most, falling 3.57%, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. closely followed with a 3.06% decline. HDFC Bank Ltd. was the third biggest laggard, declining 1.86%. Bharti Airtel Ltd. and ICICI Bank Ltd. were also among the losers on Monday.
