Gold futures opened lower on the MCX as investors booked profits after the previous session's rally. Silver finds support between Rs 2,38,800 and Rs 2,41,000, says Bullion tracker. The gold rate in India on Tuesday is Rs 1,55,230 per 10 gms while the silver rate is Rs 2,41,260 per 1 kg, according the Bullions website.
In the global market, spot silver fell nearly 1% to $76.94 per ounce, while gold slipped $40.10, or 1%, to $5,003.01 per ounce.
Trading activity remained subdued as Chinese markets closed for Lunar New Year holidays. Chinese participants have played a key role in recent volatility, particularly in silver, and their absence contributed to thinner market conditions, analysts told PTI.

In Mumbai, the financial heart of the country, 24-carat gold is retailing at approximately Rs 1,54,950 per 10 grams. Kolkata follows a similar trend, with its gold rate reported at Rs 1,54,740. Both cities are ahead of the national capital, Delhi, where the 24-carat rate currently stands at Rs 1,54,680.
The southern markets continue to record the highest figures in the country. Chennai leads the metros with a peak rate of Rs 1,55,400, while Hyderabad and Bengaluru follow closely at Rs 1,55,190 and Rs 1,55,070 respectively, keeping the price gap between the southern hubs and the northern capital distinct.

Here is how the silver rates are unfolding across major Indian hubs today: Mumbai is the epicenter of this price rally. Prices have surged to Rs 2,40,820 per kg. In the national capital, Delhi, silver is keeping pace with Mumbai, currently priced at Rs 2,40,400 per kg.
Chennai and Hyderabad are seeing silver trade at approximately Rs 2,41,520 and Rs 2,41,200 per kg, respectively. Bengaluru follows closely, with rates hovering around Rs 2,41,010 per kg. Silver rates in Kolkata are currently trading at roughly Rs 2,40,500.
