Weekly average daily fliers came in at 82,000 (excluding the data for third and fourth May due to unavailability) in the week ended May 08, 2021 versus 126,000 in the week ended May 01, 2021.
For the week ended May 08, 2021, average number of departures declined sharply to 1,140 vis-a-vis 1,549 in the prior week.
The number of fliers per departure declined to 72 from 81 in the respective weeks (this implies a passenger load factor of ~50%).
Average daily fliers dipped 35% week-on-week due to 26% drop in departures and 12% drop in the number of fliers per departure.
Rising Covid-19 cases and increasing lockdown restrictions from various states will remain an overhang on air traffic.
