(Bloomberg) -- Kenyan Interior Secretary Joseph Ole Nkaissery has died suddenly, the presidency said. He was 67.
Nkaissery died “a few hours after being admitted for a check-up” at a hospital in the capital, Nairobi, the presidency said in a statement on its website on Saturday.
A former major-general in the Kenya Defence Forces, Nkaissery served as an assistant minister for internal security under former President Mwai Kibaki. He was appointed by Kenyatta to head the internal security docket again in December 2014.
