Consumer Credit in U.S. Rises in April by Most in Five Months

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. consumer debt increased by the most in fivemonths in April and topped estimates, suggesting more upbeatsentiment among Americans is supporting borrowing and spending.

Total credit expanded $17.5 billion from the prior monthfollowing an upwardly revised $11 billion gain in March, FederalReserve figures showed Friday. Revolving debt outstandingincreased the most since November while non-revolving creditrose the least since June.
