The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance secured majority in the Lok Sabha, giving Narendra Modi a third stint in office. However, structural reforms might face delays, suggests a Citigroup report as the BJP hasn't managed to get solo majority, i.e. cross the magical mark of 272 seats on its own.

There are two kinds of reforms that are in focus — executive and legislative. While the former is possible by simple majority in the Parliament, the latter requires two-third majority.

Executive reforms in India will focus on enhancing efficiency and accountability of the new government, the report says. Meanwhile, legislative reforms will aim to improve the functioning of Parliament and state legislatures, and streamline law-making processes.
