Covid-19 cases in India continued to climb at the fastest pace in the world even as the outbreak showed signs of slowing earlier in the week.India added over 70,000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to just a shade below 70 lakh in Asia's third-largest economy
Globally, cases crossed 36.5 million leaving over 1.06 million dead as of Friday night.
Europe’s leaders are ramping up efforts to force tougher local restrictions amid a surge in coronavirus cases across the region. China joined a World Health Organization-backed vaccine effort, stepping in to fill a void in global health leadership after U.S. President Donald Trump spurned the program. Outbreaks from New Jersey to North Dakota strained health care in parts of the U.S., less than a month before the general election.
