Aishwarya Rai, Daughter Test Positive For Covid-19 A Day After Abhishek, Amitabh Bachchan
The thespian tweets about his illness, says he has been hospitalised.
Four members of the Bachchan family have now tested positive for Covid-19.
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and actor son Abhishek Bachchan were found to have contracted the virus on Saturday. A day later, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, married to Abhiskeh, and their daughter Aaradhya tested positive for Covid-19.
Actor Jaya Bachchan, wife of the veteran filmstar, tested negative, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope tweeted.
Earlier on Sunday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, her daughter and Jaya Bachchan had tested negative in the rapid antigen detection test. That caused confusion as hours later two of them tested positive. The gold standard for Covid-19 testing is the the RT-PCR test.
Bachchan, meanwhile, is stable with mild symptoms and is currently admitted in the isolation unit of the hospital, ANI tweeted on Sunday, quoting the public relations officer at Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai.
Bachchan shared on social media on Saturday that he had tested positive, prompting a welter of get well soon wishes from across the world. He said his family has been tested and requested those who have been in his close proximity over the past 10 days to do the same.
Mumbai, where Bachchan, 77, resides with his family, has been the worst hit in India by the novel corona virus pandemic, with cases exceeding 90,000.
Soon after Bachchan’s tweet on Saturday, son Abhishek Bachchan posted that he too tested positive for the virus. Both have mild symptoms.

Having acted in over 200 films, Amitabh Bachchan is among the few ‘superstars’ of the Hindi film industry, or Bollywood as it’s also referred to. He was last seen in Gulabo Sitabo, that released on Amazon Prime last month even as the country was emerging from the pandemic-led lockdown. He has been honoured with the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contributions to the arts.
Abhishek Bachchan is also an actor and having done several films has just released a new drama series on Amazon - Breathe Into The Shadows.
Aishwarya Rai, a former Miss World, is a celebrated actor who starred in blockbusters such as Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Jodha Akbar, among several others.
Jaya Bachchan is also a veteran Bollywood actor who starred in films including Silsila, Guddi, Sholay and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. She is a Rajya Sabha member representing Samajwadi Party.
