Gold and Yen March Higher as New Political Dawns Loom: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- Gold and the yen extended gains on risk aversion ahead of U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit speech on Tuesday and Donald Trump's inauguration as U.S. president later this week. The precious metal and Japanese currency have both advanced seven straight sessions. Officials from the U.S. Federal Reserve, including Janet Yellen, are due to speak this week, adding to investor trepidation. “Davos also will provide ample headlines, and let's not forget the ECB, which could still surprise,” Oanda senior trader Stephen Innes said in a note.
