Her World, Her Way: Women's International Travel Soars With Solo Travelling On The Rise
Visa processing platform Atlys has reported a 22% uptick in international travel applications from Indian women over the past year.

When it comes to travel, they say wander where the Wi-Fi is weak because that is where the breath-taking views are. Dream destinations on the bucket list are being checked off faster than ever as travel becomes a top leisure pick across all ages. Atlys, visa processing platform, reports 22% uptick in international travel applications from Indian women over the past year.
“We’re seeing a generation of women who view travel as essential for self-expression and growth,” said Mohak Nahta, founder and chief executive officer of Atlys. Whether it’s a solo journey for cultural immersion or a group trip to celebrate a milestone, these experiences are reshaping how women perceive travel and its role in their lives, he added.
Strolling Scenic Routes Solo
According to the report, solo travel accounts for 20.6% of visa applications coming in. Women have not limited travel to purpose but have explored international destinations with a wide array of unique offerings. The destinations that are popular for solo woman travelers include Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and parts of Europe.
With women opting for destinations known for safety, affordability, and cultural richness, its safe to say, the Eat, Pray, Love impact stands strong. Most of these destinations offer exotic food, spiritual experiences and dizzying adventures
Sun, Sand And Sisterhood
On the other hand, group travel makes up 35% of applications. The report says that more women have been taking trips to celebrate milestones like bachelorettes, birthdays, or career achievements.
With women taking more getaways, staycations and champagne toasts, a key driver of this travel boom is the rising financial independence among Indian women.
Chasing That Dizzying-Rush
Going with the flow is not everyone's cup of tea, but it surely is especially for women travelers under 35. The report suggests that younger women, are drawn to more spontaneous and adventurous itineraries.
With the younger women chasing that adrenaline high, women aged 35 to 45 let their hair down differently. Majority of women in this category prefer to know when the flow starts and prefer planned, structured trips.
Despite these differences, both groups are shifting away from traditional sightseeing toward more meaningful and culturally immersive experiences.
Tired Feet, Happy Heart
Destinations like Dubai, Bali, Bangkok, Singapore, and Malaysia are top choices as women opt for destinations with a vibrant nightlife and diverse cuisines.
Further, the report shows that 28% of applications are linked to experiential travel. This means that women did not pass on anything fun, right from international concerts and yoga retreats to immersive cultural explorations.
