--
Shares of technology company Wipro Ltd surged over 2 per cent to hit intraday high of Rs 648 in an otherwise weak market after the company said that it had won a five-year deal from US-based utility company Greater Cincinnati Water Works.

As GCWW's IT partner, Wipro will help transform the utility firm's CRM, billing and service bureau operations, the software services company said in a statement.

GCWW provides about 133 million gallons of water a day to over one million people across the states of Ohio and Kentucky in the US.

Wipro will design, build, host and deploy a Customer Information System (CIS) and maintain the solution for a period of five years after the initial implementation under a pay-per-use pricing model.

However no financial details of the deal were disclosed.

The shares of Wipro ended 2.9 per cent higher at Rs 652.
