Chennai-based TVS Motor will launch its new two-wheeler Zest in August, the management confirmed on Thursday in a post-earnings press conference. The company will also launch a motorcycle each in the third (October-December) and fourth (January-March) quarter of the current financial year. However, TVS did not share any details about the two new bikes.

"Scooty Zest we are planning to launch sometime in August after that there will be two new motorcycles one in Q3 and one in Q4," KN Radhakrishnan, president and CEO, TVS Motor said. (Watch)

The Zest was first showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February. The two-wheeler is powered by the same 110cc engine as found in TVS' motorcycles Star City and Jupiter. The engine of the Zest is expected to churn out 8bhp (brake horse power) and 8Nm (Newton meter) of torque.

TVS' current bike portfolio includes models like Apache, Phoenix, Max4R, Star City and Sport. While the scooty portfolio has models like Jupiter, Wego, Scooty Streak and Scooty Pep.

The company plans to achieve a market-share of 14 per cent during the current fiscal, however they are lagging behind, Mr Radhakrishnan said.

However, with improved monsoons, he expects demand to go up, he said. From the possibility of a drought-like situation, the monsoon deficit has narrowed to around 30 per cent of normal.
