SBI extends home loan offer for women borrowers

State Bank of India on Wednesday said it will continue with a cheap home loan scheme specially tailored for women borrowers. The scheme, first introduced in December 2013, was supposed to end on March 31, 2013.

India's largest lender claims to have received "overwhelming" response from women borrowers.

Under the scheme, SBI charges an interest rate of 10.10 per cent for loans up to Rs. 75 lakh and 10.25 per cent for loans above Rs 75 lakh.

The bank charges 10.15 per cent and 10.30 per cent interest from men borrowers for the above mentioned amounts.

The special rates can be availed by women who are applicants (or first co-applicants) and also owners of the property.
