Neyveli Lignite Corp on Thursday reported a 120.6 per cent spurt in net profit at Rs 489.02 crore for the third quarter that ended in December 2013 on the back of a rise in other income.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 221.65 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, it said in a filing to the BSE.
Total income from operations increased to Rs 1,314.95 crore, from Rs 1,255.70 crore in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year, it said.
Other income of the NLC zoomed to Rs 553.41 crore in the quarter under review versus Rs 115.44 crore in the third quarter of FY13.
"Other income includes an amount of Rs 426.63 crore towards dues of surcharge and interest receivable from Tangedco," it said.
