India's unabating love for the compact sport utility vehicle has changed the landscape of the car market. It has done this by drawing customers away from the hatchback and sedan segments. But one category has remained relatively untouched.
The seven-seater segment has been dominated by the Toyota Innova for more than a decade. The multi-purpose vehicle's build quality, coupled with the comfort and space it affords to its occupants, have made it the perfect car not only for the large family but also fleet operators.
Its popularity has been such that other carmakers have been hesitant to launch products that will take the Innova head on. But, some have braved the challenge.
